Drakkons

Why dragons?

I have a love for all things fantasy, and dragons have always been a fascination. These cute guys have so much personality and are really fun to sculpt.

How do you come up with names for each drakkon?

Inspiration! Each drakkon is unique, and I try to give them unique names and personalities that fit. I draw a lot on the finished drakkon itself, and really like wordplay in different languages. For example, Seta has mushrooms growing on him, and Setae are a type of mushroom!

When will you create a new drakkon?

Katie creates drakkons when inspiration hits. It’s an unforced, creative process. If you have suggestions or want to commission your own little drakkon, please, reach out!

What are your sculptures made of?

I use premo sculpey as the base for all drakkons and often for accents. The eyes are cabochon glass beads, and the other accents and items depend on the individual drakkon. Gemstone spines, metal gears for a steampunk look, quartz crystals, resin accents, and D20 dice are just some of the accents I’ve used on individual drakkons.
